Today I am on hand to address this loss of libido and what you can do to get your relationship back on track.
Since starting my blog and answering queries through the website and on live chat I have been totally amazed at the number of women going through the menopause who are really worrying alone about their symptoms and are unable to talk about them to their partners, family or friends. And even when they go to their doctor they often get so little help or support and are made to feel a nuisance.
I feel very privileged that so many women are happy to open up to me and pour out their worries, fears and anxieties, and I just hope that I can help them in some small way.
One of the issues coming to the fore now is loss of libido. I get many women worried that this is going to affect them. Falling levels of hormones can affect libido, and energy levels are also important – feeling exhausted is not conducive to a great sex life. We women are also far more affected than men by our emotions and body image and that can have a drastic effect on our love life at any time, never mind going through the menopause!
I know that loss of libido can have an effect on relationships and I have been surprised at the number of men who have contacted me because their partners have suddenly become distant and they are totally confused as to why this may be. I know that talking about sex isn’t always easy, even with close friends, but this can be a huge issue during the menopause so don’t suffer in silence!
